       III. GUEST SPEAKERS: Tim Roets and Mark Meddaugh, Police Managers, Watertown Police Department- Topic: Domestic Abuse- CCRT (Community Coordinated Response Team) 
          A. Started efforts county wide to approach domestic violence started late 2007 early 2008 
             a. Good cross sectional repetition 
                  i. PAVE 
                  ii. PAPDA 
                  iii. Churches 
                  iv. Schools 
                  v. Health Department 
                  vi. Probation and Parole 
                  vii. The community 

             b. Three committees 
                   i. Law enforcement 
                   ii. District Attorney 
                   iii. Community Awareness 
          B. Law Enforcement 
             a. This year Watertown Police department responded to 157 domestic violence complaints- 170 arrests 
             b. Watertown is policing the city with 38 officers 
             c. All 38 got domestic violence training within 6 months 
             d. Watertown is doing a better job with the beneficial training
             e. Updated policies and procedures 
             f. Created a Stop Back Program 
                i. Tracking recidivism 
                ii. One detective that is full time to look for leads to follow up on for repeated offenders 
                iii. Offer services to both sides 

       C. District Attorney- Legal 
             a. CCRT reaches out to District Attorneys to ensure they are handling the calls well 
             b. Stated their concerns and frustrations with domestic violence offenders not being prosecuted 
             c. Approached to discuss the light domestic violence cases 
                i. Offender should be held more accountable 
                ii. Improvements have been made 
             d. Forming a agreement with office to not let these case slip through the cracks 
             e. District Attorneys have been involved in the same training that the Watertown police received 
       D. Community Awareness- Community Coordinated Response Team
             a. Group efforts to spread the awareness of Domestic Violence
             b. Pocket size resource brochures for victims
             c. Domestic Violence Video 
                i. In progress will be put out in October 2009 
             d. Monthly articles 
                i. In need of new writer 
             e. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month – CCRT sponsored events
                i. “Run from the cops” a. The only time to run from the cops
             b. Give out orange t-shirts and donuts 
             c. Proceeds go towards PAVE and PADA 
                ii. “Shop and Dine” Local restaurants will donate a percentage to PAVE and PADA – CCRT 
                iii. Purple silhouettes will be placed throughout the community lawns and store fronts
             a. With statistics 
             b. Move the silhouette around town 
       E. The more one learns about domestic violence, the more a problem it is 
             a. Initiatives for offenders as well 
             b. CCRT applied for grant to address Domestic Violence across the county
             c. Grant money will be placed towards batters program 
       F. Bigger goal to make this County Wide 
             a. Each law enforcement agency has an investigator specifically assigned to domestic violence 
       G. Questions/Comments for CCRT 
             a. Start post-arrest treatment and intervention 
             b. What is the percentage of Latino? 
                i.  Difficult to get a hard number 
                ii. Under reported 
                iii. Latino have a hard time trusting law enforcement 
                iv. Deportation of Latino 
                v. Percentage of reporting are low 
                vi. Latino families are in need to break the cycle 
             c. What role does PADA play with CCRT? 
                i. PADA does a fantastic job to work with families 
                ii. Detective from police department goes to home visit 
             d. Send the message ‘we are here to help!’ 
             e. Building the relationship
